What the Heck?
Yes, hi! We’re Heck, an independent non-alcoholic craft brewery based in Portland, Oregon.
We brew our non-alcoholic beer using traditional brewing techniques to create complex, flavorful non-alcoholic brews that still taste full and familiar as craft beer. We're also proudly independent, self-distributed, and brew exclusively NA.
We currently offer two styles: our signature West Coast-style Silver Linings IPA, and our European lager-inspired Gentle Persuasion Golden.
We're born and brewed in Portland, Oregon, where we’re working to bring craft non-alcoholic beer home to the Pacific Northwest, and to build upon the region's reputation for exceptional craft beer as it expands to include NA.
-
Is everything you brew non-alcoholic?
Yes! We’re a dedicated non-alcoholic craft brewery using traditional brewing techniques.
No dealcoholization, no artificial flavorings, no magical wellness claims—just water, hops, barley, yeast, and heat to brew non-alcoholic beer in the rich tradition of Portland craft.
We also pasteurize after canning to ensure our brews stay safely non-alcoholic, even when they’re not kept refrigerated.
-
Is Heck vegan?
Yes! Like most traditionally brewed beer, Heck is safe for vegans to enjoy.
We don’t use any animal-derived products (or fining agents like isinglass or gelatin) when brewing our beer. Being vegan is as important to us as being non-alcoholic.
-
Is Heck gluten free?
No. Sorry, unfortunately it is still beer.
-
Do you have a brewery or taproom I can visit?
Not yet, but we're working on it!
You can sign up to our mailing list and follow us on our social accounts (links at the bottom of the page) to be notified when we host tasting events and pop-ups around Portland—and yes, we're working on opening our own NA community brewpub in 2026! Stay tuned!

Who is behind Heck?
Heck was co-founded by Andy McMillan and Justin Miller, and it remains a two-person company to this day. They started working together in the spring of 2021, eventually co-founding Heck as a company and launching their first NA beer together in January 2024.
Andy is a designer and entrepreneur who has been working in the zero-proof space since 2019, originally as the founder of Suckerpunch, the first zero-proof bar to open on the West Coast. He's also an independent event producer, and previously one half of the duo who produced the XOXO Festival.
Justin is a craft brewer with 16+ years of experience, including over a decade spent at Hopworks where he eventually led the brewery team as Head Brewer. He has also worked extensively in commercial fermentation and specialty yeast development, and has been specializing in brewing non-alcoholic beer since 2021.
